RENOVAR SALON UPDATE, JULY 2012

As of July 13, 2012 we have not heard back from the IRS on our tax exempt status. Granted, we could go ahead and open the salon now but because we are asking manufacturers for donations of our initial products we feel they should be able to get a write off . Its only fair. The IRS website states that they are currently working on applications received in October 2011. Our application was submitted on October 28, 2011. We will keep everyone updated on our progress.

BIO's

Susana Gonzales has over 30 years of retail cosmetic management, buying and merchandizing experience. Even at age 5 she knew she wanted to be a makeup artist. Susana is an accomplished and creative makeup artist with experience in all aspects of makeup. Her diverse background and experience produces a unique style. She has the innate ability to bring out the natural beauty of her subject, no matter the gender, ethnicity or character portrayal. A specialist in special event and wedding makeup artistry, Susana wanted to take her experience and put it towards a more positive use. While working at a large national retailer, Susana's passion for the beauty industry was compromised by the pressure to "over sell" the customer. Having worked for various commercial cosmetic companies and large retailers, she knew there had to be a way to offer the same quality products at a more attainable price. It was at this retailer where she shared with a coworker her desire for a place where quality makeup, skin, hair and nail care could be offered at a low price. A place where the pressures to open charge accounts wouldn't influence your employment. This is when Renovar was born. Her strong management background, savvy business practices and amazing makeup artistry offers Renovar the strong backbone necessary to be one of the most successful retail salons in the area. Susana will be in charge of our makeup area.

Suzanne Vinal has numersous years of experience in medical office management, customer service, accounting and fundraising. She has always had a fascination with skin care, makeup and the total spa experience. She met the two partners of Renovar while working at a large retailer where she expressed her concerns about being pressured into selling products to her clients to meet goals and not because of the clients needs. When she was apprached about joining the Renovar team, she knew she had to be a part of the dream. Suzanne's calm demeanor and nurturing personality was the perfect match to oversee our Manicure / Pedicure Ritual department. Her background in the medical field demonstrates that she truly loves helping others. Suzanne researched and developed hand, foot and leg treatments that are not only luxurious, but also therapeutic.

Todd Taubman-Walker has been a Cosmetologist for 25 years, a licensed Skin Care Specialist for 11 years and a professional Makeup Artist for over 35 years. His fascination for skin and makeup started when he was working in a Los Angeles burn unit. The surgeon in charge suggested he consider a career working as a medical makeup artist helping burn survivors. After receiving his cosmetology license, Todd enrolled in many makeup artistry schools to hone his skills. As luck would have it, a famous fashion designer was looking for someone to help her develop her new line of makeup. She took him under her wing and together, they discivered the truth about cosmetic manufacturing. In years to follow, Todd was hired by big cosmetic manufacturers and cosmetic laboratories to develop products. In the middle of his career, he was hired by ABC Television Studios as a studio makeup artist. Later he contracted with various commerical, salon and medical cosmetic companies to create educational programs. When Todd made the decision to semi retire, he accepted a position at a department store in the cosmetics department. Shortly after starting, he became very ill. Each day that he worked he found it harder and harder to breathe. He developed a life-threatening sinus and lung infection. he had migrains every day. It was determined the the condition was due to the toxic chemicals being emitted in to the air by way of perfumes, colognes and the alcohol constantly being sprayed as a cleaning solution. He knew he had to make a change but he wasn't ready to retire completely. That is when he met Susana (a coworker) and Renovar was born. Todd will be in charge of our retail skin care and skin care services.
